Dental Implants in Los Gatos
Dental implants are the most reliable and long-lasting way to replace missing teeth. As implant dentists and members of ASIRD, Dr. Yagobi or Dr. Karimi have restored form, function, and beautiful smiles to many of their patients with missing or damaged teeth.
Patients who have lost their teeth regain the ability to eat anything they like, smile with confidence, and feel like themselves again after dental implant surgery and dental restoration. Implant dentistry also preserves facial contours to prevent a prematurely aged appearance and prevents jawbone deterioration.
Dental implants are screws or posts placed in the jawbone to replace the roots of missing teeth. The implants are made of titanium, a bio-compatible material used for decades for replacement joints. The titanium fuses with the jawbone over several months, creating a stable foundation for dental restorations such as crowns.

Evaluation for Dental Implants
Implant dentistry is the best choice for many patients, but each person’s situation is unique. To determine whether they are suitable for you, our implant dentists perform a dental exam, review your medical history, and take radiographic images. Either Drs. Yagobi or Karimi will discuss your specific needs and dental restoration goals with you. If you are a good candidate for dental implants, we will explain the process in detail, listen to your concerns, and answer all your questions about implant dentistry. In rare cases, we may refer you to an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon we have vetted and are confident will provide you with the best possible care.
Dental Implant Procedure
Dental implants are substitutes for missing teeth’ roots, providing a base for dental restorations that replace the visible portions of missing teeth. We surgically place the titanium posts in the jawbone. When they are integrated with the jawbone, a slender post is inserted in the center of each implant, protruding from the gums.
Implant dentistry usually requires two surgical procedures. The implants are placed in the jawbone during the initial surgery and given time to heal. Over three to six months, the implants osseointegrate with the jawbone. You are on a soft food diet and wear a temporary dental prosthetic during this time.
Once the implants have adequately fused with the surrounding bone, a second surgery uncovers the top of the implants. During this time, Drs. Yagobi or Karimi begins designing and making your replacement teeth. Using 3D imagery, they create custom crowns or dental prosthetics that look and function like natural teeth. Abutments connect the new teeth to the exposed portion of the dental implants. The process takes six to eight months, from your initial consultation to the placement of your permanent restorations. There is little disruption in your daily life during this time.
